Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode offer 8 MDS specialties each, while Kottayam offers 9. Admission is through NEET MDS rank – 50% seats via MCC All India Quota and 50% via CEE Kerala state quota.

MDS Seats in Kerala Government Dental Colleges
Kerala has a total of 70 MDS seats in government dental colleges. Of these, 35 seats go to the All India Quota and 35 seats remain in the Kerala State Quota. Within the state quota, 10% seats are reserved for in-service candidates (MESQ, HSQ and IMSQ in the ratio 1:2:1), and the rest are filled on merit with community reservation. Because the number of seats is small, the closing ranks for government MDS seats in Kerala are very competitive, especially for branches like Orthodontics, Prosthodontics and Conservative Dentistry. Specialty-wise seat matrix is released by CEE Kerala before each round.
Private MDS Colleges in Kerala
Private (self-financing) dental colleges hold most of the MDS seats in Kerala. Their seats – merit seats and NRI seats – are also allotted by CEE Kerala on the basis of the NEET MDS state rank list. The tuition fee is fixed every year by the Fee Regulatory Committee, and colleges are not allowed to collect any extra tuition beyond the fixed amount. Amrita School of Dentistry, Kochi is a deemed university, so its MDS seats are filled through MCC deemed university counselling.
